Hi! I am using Duplicacy on macOS Ventura (web edition) with the -vss option. I don’t see any errors and the backup completes just fine, but from looking at Disk Utility during the backup it doesn’t seem to create a snapshot. Isn’t the -vss option supposed to do this so that I can have a consistent point in time backup even if I have some files open? Thanks
I see this in the logs “WARN VSS_PATH VSS not supported for non-local repository path: /Volumes/Data/Resilio”
Why is it not supported? ArqBackup creates snapshots just fine on external drives.
Arq worked with Apple to request access to filesystem snapshotting API and uses it directly.
Duplicacy did not, instead, it asks Time Machine to create local snapshot. Time Machine only works on local filesystem.
