Why does desktop.ini show up in my files after I restore them? Can I delete it and exclude it from future backups?
What about the .duplicacy folder? Can I restore my backups without it leaving behind the desktop.ini file and .duplicacy folder?
Because restore worked reliably and restored the files you’ve backed up?
Like any other file, if you or the software you use don’t want or need it – delete it.

You can also selectively restore only what’s needed.
