First Large Backup locally then to remote system

I’m new to Duplicacy and I’m trying to create my first large backup. I have about 1.5TB of data and I’ve created a storage drive locally attached to my Unraid server via USB. I’d like to backup everything locally to the USB drive, so I can take the drive to a offsite Unraid server and move the contents their so I can do remote backups over Wireguard.

My question is if i move all the data over to the offisite Unraid array and share that directory over SMB will Duplicacy acknowledge it as the same backup location? I dont want to upload all that data if I can just physically move it over.

Yes. I would not use SMB remotely though. Use sftp instead.

Why not SMB? Is sftp faster?

SMB is sensitive to latency. It’s designed to work well in the LAN. Over the internet SFTP will work faster.
