Google Workspace limits are now being enforced

It is the end of an era for my backups. I was backing up my NAS to Google Workspaces, but on the 5/29/2023 I started getting daily emails

" Organization storage full - Your organization exceeded its 5 TB of Google Workspace storage. To avoid service disruptions, free up space or get more storage within 60 days."

This is sad indeed

I’ve received messages about me using some percent of storage too; glad google finally figured out how to enforce quotas, it only took them under a decade!

It’s a good thing though, if only long overdue: now you can finally migrate to the more appropriate storage and improve your backup reliability.

I would recommend to consider Storj or Backblaze B2 as duplicacy targets for mutable data, and copy to Amazon glacier deep archive for immutable stuff, such as media and archived data, since duplicacy does not support it directly and this type of data does not require versioning, deduplication, nor compression.
