Is duplicacy backing up itself?

I chose my user folder as a repository (on Windows) for a test and while it was running I realized duplicacy created a .duplicacy folder inside my user root to store its snapshots apparently.
Will that folder now also be backed up or is duplicacy clever enough to exclude its own files?

The .duplicacy folder is automatically excluded and will not be backed up.
