More reporting on how time is spent in ongoing backup process

I am running duplicacy backup from the web.
I have one backup that goes to an external HD, another that goes to a cloud storage.
The machine runs Ubuntu + KDE Plasma (not Kubuntu).

The backup can take quite long, and it is slowing down other applications.
There seem to be 3 phases from a user perspective:
In one phase, the progress bar remains at zero.
In the next phase, the progress bar actually moves.
In the third phase, the progress bar stays at 100%. This can take quite long.
Clicking the progress bar takes me to a list of file permission problems.

What I miss is a more detailed reporting what the backup process is currently doing, and what is slowing it down or blocking it:

  • Are there specific directories that have lots of data? I might want to tune the export to exclude some of these directories.
  • What is the current operation doing? Scanning files, or uploading files, or organizing the repository?

There can be reporting on ongoing backup operation, and after a finished backup.

And ofc it would be nice if the progress bar would be moving during the complete operation, so that 100% really means it is finished
