Overwrote installation with released 2.1.0, but got double installation, and service broken

I had been testing 2.1.0 beta, and decided to jump in and buy some Duplicacy licenses. At the same time I noticed 2.1.0 had been released. I recalled reading in the beta thread that I could just overwrite an existing installation, but I needed to manually stop the Duplicacy service first.

I did those two things (stop service, overwrite existing installation), but in Control Panel > Programs and Features, I had two installations listed, one dated back in January when I started testing, and one dated now. So I used Control Panel to uninstall the old Duplicacy installation.

Now, I notice that the service isn’t running. When I try to start it manually it fails, because “the system cannot find the file specified.”

How can I fix this?

It is likely that when you uninstalled the old Duplicacy installation, the GUI executable was removed.

I think you can uninstall the other Duplicacy installation from Control Panel, and then re-run the Duplicacy installer as administrator to install it again. Make sure you select Install for all users and then install the service as well.

I uninstalled and reinstalled as you suggested. It worked. Thanks.
