Like described in the above posting the update process (at least on Windows) has been a bit edgy so far.
I mean

Why can’t the installer kill the running old process (if present)?

Why can’t the installer recreate the Windows service (if present/wanted)? At least don’t throw an error message if it is not necessary to recreate the service, but tell that the service is already there and everything is good.
2 quite simple but annoying tasks which come around on every update and users don’t want to think about that every time again…
PLEASE!! Round that edges. Make life easier!
