Restore with NTFS permission intact?

I’ve searched through the forum for NTFS related items but couldn’t find anything that would address this. Obviously this is Windows related and on doing a restore test, I realized that the NTFS permissions are no longer there. Am I missing something? Is this not supported?

Now it’s possible that if the files are restored back to the original structure the files may then get the inherited permissions but if something happened to the original folder and everything is gone, and you have to do a full restore, this would required you to reset the permission all over again.

Thanks.

:d: operates on file content, it doesn’t backup metadata such as permissions and other attributes. This is also true for many (most?) other backup solutions, at least multiplatform file-based ones.

That’s not entirely true. Duplicati stores symlink information, and at the same time not allow recovery without them - example this unresolved issue
