How is the Web UI version of Duplicacy able to do this without creating any symlinks. I don’t see any symlinks in any of my folders on Windows.

Duplicacy Web UI doesn’t use -pref-dir, but instead the much better -repository alternative. This means no .duplicacy directory (or file) resides in the repository source, and is cleaner.
