Remove/Delete redundant/test backup IDs (WebUI)

I did a couple of dry-runs and i seem to have some test backup IDs i’d like to get rid of.

They only seem visible in the Restore section. There are no revisions to restore as i believe they were dry-run jobs during a test setup.

I saw a thread about using Prune, but there’s nothing to prune. I tried it anyway but whether cmd with admin or not i get a popup:

Can’t start the webserver at 127.0.0.1:3875: listen TCP 127.0.0.1:3875:bind. Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network/address/port) is normally permitted.

Your error seems unrelated to your issue of removing test backup IDs. That error sounds like you’re trying to run the Web Edition twice, perhaps?

Anyway, to remove test backup IDs, you will probably have to delete the empty folder under the snapshots subdirectory on your backup storage.

If you have no snapshots/revisions, then prune won’t help here, as they’re already pruned. So the remaining empty subfolder will appear under the Restore section until you delete it manually. Just ensure there are no numbered files within it, and it’s safe to delete.

Thanks. I’ve made a couple of stuff-ups during the setup process. e.g. when you first run it, it asks for a password. I lost it! I don’t understand the master password because it didn’t seem to stop me doing anything, and i wasn’t prompted for it even after rebooting the PC - nor could i “log out”. Later i added an ‘admin’ password, which allowed me to logout.

I’d actually like to start completely fresh - with no pre-existing settings. I can delete the backups, schedules and storage in the WebUI and delete the backup directory/repository. But how to clean up prior settings. I uninstalled it once, but when i did, at least one Duplicacy directory (i think in ProgramData) was still there. Do i have to manually purge some directories to ensure completely clean fresh new install with no prior settings?

If you want to start completely from scratch, you could stop the service / running Duplicacy and delete the .duplicacy-web directory under ProgramData.

To remove a backup ID that doesn’t have any revisions, you can manual remove the subdirectory with the backup ID as the name from the storage.

Hmm… i’ve uninstalled the program with admin, deleted the repository on the backup HDD, renamed ProgramData/.duplicacy-web, checked the registry and don’t see the Duplicacy entries and re-installed Duplicacy and it wants the admin password.

Ah-ha! I actually had to clear the browser cache and cookies. (well, i cleared them both - but i don’t know if one or the other did the trick).
